The Island

Not a house near the water.
The island itself.

McGee Island is a 90-acre private coastal retreat just 3 miles by boat from Port Clyde — with three historic buildings, room for up to 24 guests, and the rare feeling of having an entire place to yourselves.

Island Moments
Low Tide Crossings

Walk between islands when the tide reveals the way.

Porch-to-Shore Days

Coffee, kayaks, trails, rocks, and quiet water.

Maine Nights Together

Long dinners, board games, stars, and no rush.

A Place That Feels Like Another Time

Step off the boat and into a different century.

You leave Port Clyde on a small caretaker boat and travel about three miles out to sea. The mainland fades. Pines and granite rise. You land on a 90-acre island that has belonged to one family for generations — and for the week, it belongs to yours.

Inside, the buildings hold artifacts and furnishings from the early to mid-1900s. Wide pine floors. Oil lamps. A piano. A fire. Wi-Fi when you need it. Nothing else asking for your attention.

Unplug from the noise. Reconnect on the island.

A Week on the Island

What your week on the island can feel like.

Paddle Around the Island

Kayaks and paddleboards waiting at the dock. Calm coves on the lee side, granite ledges on the open side.

Play Volleyball on the Island

A casual island game with the whole group — no schedule, no crowds, just fresh air and space to play.

Play Table Tennis Together

A little friendly competition for all ages — an easy island activity between meals, walks, and time on the water.

Collect Mussels and Buy Lobsters

Pick mussels at low tide. Flag down a lobster boat for dinner.

Walk the Island Trails

Wander through pine paths, granite shoreline, and quiet island views that feel completely removed from the mainland.

Games, Books, Piano, and Firelight

Croquet on the lawn, board games by the fire, the piano in the parlor.
